"There is a crossing point on the river, used by First Peoples and explorers at a time beyond our memory. On the stone jetty, portageurs could finally land their boats and push them onto the water. At the meeting of air and water, they passed through, avoiding the perils of the rapids...".

Musician Paraphonique's latest work is a suite of electronic ambient pieces inspired by the Parc des Portageurs on the Outaouais River in Hull, and exploring the theme of air and water crossed in their different states. These compositions form an elastic sound envelope furnished with motifs, composed parts and generative elements, supported by sonorities designed to reflect suggested ambiences such as the density of bodies, the fluidity of matter or the intensity of light. With this project, the author deepens his exploration of analog and digital subtractive synthesis techniques, electronic voice processing and field recording.
