cut short//coupé | ignoble marmalade

cut short//coupé court is a recording of my performance at Debaser’s 2024 Drone Day event,

which took place May 25th, 2024. The performance was fully improvised and was meant as an homage to my late friend Riley, who sadly passed away in 2022 at the age of 26. The

intrumentation is composed entirely of intruments that once belonged to Riley, which included 2 synths, a bass guitar, an effects unit and a melodica.

On a metaphorical level, this recording is a call out into the void that will receive no response or, inversely, a final response to the to his life song and to our friendship. On a more personal level, it was a way for me to converse with him again.

The performance lasted 30 minutes, but the recording device I was using ran out of battery

after only 20. And so this recording, as though a mirror to my dear friend’s life, was also cut

short.
