Trois pièces électroniques pour la cour du roi Minos | Paraphonique

Trois pièces électroniques pour la cour du roi Minos : a triptych inspired by the themes of the labyrinth, wandering, intrigue and unexpected detours. Listeners are invited on a journey through ambient pieces that combine composed passages, improvised fragments and unexpectedly triggered sounds. The maze is not meant to have an end or a beginning, so you can get lost without looking for a way out...

These three pieces are the fruit of sonic exploration using techniques such as analog subtractive synthesis, digital synthesis, modeling and acoustic source processing. All shaped intentionally or subject to probabilities, the different elements of the compositions form a coherent whole, oriented on a main pulse and obeying the principles of diatonic harmony.

Paraphonique is the solo project of musician Nicolas Lavoie, who has been active for several years in the Outaouais region and Eastern Ontario. Nicolas composes immersive electronic music that captures the ear in a hypnotic sound bubble. Mainly devoted to hardware electronics, he explores the possibilities offered by modular synthesizers, modeling and sound sample processing. Nicolas is inspired by the work of many artists from the experimental, ambient or "kosmische" scenes. Nicolas has taken part in the MUTEK Montréal, Suoni Per Il Popolo and Pop Montréal festivals. He was also a member of Le Temporaire, the now-defunct multidisciplinary art laboratory in Gatineau's Vieux-Hull district, from which many emerging Outaouais artists have emerged.
