Massimo Guerrera, a multidisciplinary artist and researcher, uses various media, such as drawing, painting, writing, photography, installation, and performance to explore the fertile space of encounter processes and their subtle laminar and liminal movements. This approach focuses on the sensitive oscillations experienced in the space-time of practice and encounter, between being together and the solitude of the studio. He studies relational porosity and the construction of identity forms, whether individual or cultural.
Since 1989, his performative and contemplative approach has revolved around these sensitive relationships that govern otherness and the rhythms of the environments we inhabit. These questions are rooted in a daily practice, connected to and nourished by a meditative and reflective practice. This research is embodied in long-term conceptual projects that take the form of a series of collaborations forming collections of works and narratives. These works revolve around these oscillations of consciousness and its different modes of writing and expression.
This is a careful study of the processes of creation and listening, focusing on the different states of mind that develop during these processes. Massimo also works on the processes of knowledge transmission, teaching since 2010 in a series of retreat workshops offered in his studio, in nature, in meditation centers, and as a guest lecturer at Quebec universities. (University of Quebec at Chicoutimi, Concordia University, University of Montreal).
